Using Skew to Annotate at IM

SKEW

Using skew is similar to using rotate. However, instead of rotating the entire text, which is something we don't always want to do, it raises or lowers the letters from the lower left point of the first letter.

Skew is at the very bottom of the Optional Annotate Attributes.

I'll be using this blank gif to annotate.
Gravity Northwest +100+70
Fill color #8cbdff
Stroke color #31319c
Point size 50
Font Impact
Trim and Output

This is a typical annotation.

Using the same annotation attributes as above, go down to SkewX and change it to 10.0

SkewX drops the text fill color down...if you use a negative number, it will raise the text.
Here is the annotation with the stroke color removed.

Now we'll use SkewY
Change it to 10.0 and change SkewX back to 0.0, keeping all the other information the same.

SkewY drops the text stroke color down.
Here is the annotation with the fill color removed.

The image at the top of this page was annotated twice...first as describe for a typical annotation, then I used SkewX -10.0 and SkewY 10.0 in addition to the other attributes that were inputted.

Enjoy the possibilities of using Skew when you annotate...and try using it when you're creating those original graphics with dingbats.
